Day 5: The Cosmic Ego

Ego - Source of Desires and Intentions

Yesterday, we spoke on the very interesting (and I hope exciting) subject of the ego. The ego is the source of desires and intentions within us, the source behind thought. We need an ‘I’ to drive our being. Though we are beings of consciousness, we need to have some kind of drive in the consciousness, that we may utilise the power of the consciousness.

Day 4: The Ego

Welcome to Day 4 of our 40 Day Retreat 2010. Yesterday, I spoke about consciousness, a consciousness of all possibilities, and that consciousness within us is a consciousness of all possibilities.

Today, I want to speak about what moves the consciousness. What moves the consciousness to action? What gives it the drive to do? The subject is, the ego. Let us take a moment to reflect on what the ego is. Ego is the consciousness of Self. It gives us Self-consciousness – that I am separate from another. In Sanskrit it is Ahankaar whichmeans the “I” maker, the “I” making principle.

Day 3: A Consciousness of All Possibilities

I have been speaking to you about the way we view the world and yesterday we spoke about our personal world, the world we carry within us.

Infinite Consciousness

Today, I want to speak about the consciousness that we have, that carries all of this information. The way we view the world happens in our consciousness. Our consciousness is viewing the world. What we carry within us, it is in our consciousness. We have our personal consciousness that we call the ego, which gives us self-identity and individuality. Then we have the infinite consciousness that we are part of.

Day 2: We Carry The World Within

Introduction

Yesterday I spoke to you, asking the question: how do we view the world that is around us? What do we see when we view the world? The idea is to see from what level you are viewing the world, to see from where you are looking and to explore other possibilities of seeing, understanding that what you are seeing is one of the possibilities and there are many possibilities as you observe and interact with our world. I said that we have come into a human experience; we have come into physical reality, co-existing with so many other beings, so many forms of life; so we are in a co-existence. It is important in a co-existence to create harmony and not conflict.

Day 1: We Begin With a Question

Introduction

Welcome everyone to Day 1 of our 40 Day Meditation Retreat 2010. It is a joy to welcome you to this retreat. As you may be aware, this is a very special period at the Blue Star and wherever Blue Star Centres are across our world. These are 40 days of grace, 40 days of discipline, as we seek to become free in the consciousness in this human experience. So wherever you are joining us today, we welcome you.

Day 1: Questions and Comments

Working With Spiritual Principles

Q. My world is responding very positively to what I am seeking, doors are being shown to me that can be opened if I so wish.   Are these opportunities for my benefit?

A. If there is a flow in your life that is a good sign. At least it shows that you are working with spiritual principles and that the Universe is favourable towards what you are doing. I think the more important question would be to ask: am I fulfilling my life purpose in doing this? It is like what I said before about creating intentions, when you create an intention you need to know that it is aligned to the will of the Universe. Of course the Universe will give you all kinds of things if you go after it but what do you want and considering your greatest life purpose which is to become free. Then we have secondary life purposes which are to achieve a house, a job or good relationship with someone; so those are secondary goals.

Creating An Intention

Namaskar Everyone,

Welcome to the day before the 40 Days. Actually this evening will be the program that precedes the 40 Days. In 1978 it would have been a significant evening on the eve of the 40 Days. This evening our program will be dedicated to the great Teacher, Baba Nityananda. In 1978 during chanting that was dedicated to him and this process began. So it is now tradition that I honour him during this time.

Introduction to the 2010 40 Days

This day is a preparation day for all the 40 days which are being streamed live from Trinidad.

Co-Creating a Sacred Space

Yesterday I spoke about co-creating a sacred space. And I said in the 40 days of 1978 my intention was to co-create…well, it wasn’t my intention…it happened. I was guided to co-create a sacred space, not only guided, but supported to co-create that sacred space. It happened. The universe just created this wonderful space for me. And it was in keeping with my spiritual goal of wanting to transform myself. My greatest desire was to go into the highest space I could go to.
